1 Second Search Engine Optimisation Tip
There are two types of SEO, onsite and offsite. Onsite involves optimizing your website to make it search engine friendly. By changing your local site and adding special SEO components you can attract better results, and sometimes great results from search engines like Google.
You can get excellent results with just onsite optimization on its own but the results tend to be unstable and not effective continuing. To get top results you will need to do a lot off offsite optimisation as well.
Top onsite SEO tip: change the page title
Believe it or not the changing the page title is one of the most powerful onsite optimization techniques you can do. The page title is what appears at the top of a web browser on the left hand side. Visitors to your web site will not usually take much notice of your page title because it is not shown on your page. However, search engines take a lot of notice of the page title.
If you have never seen what a <title?</title? tag looks like within an HTML page then simple open up the page source and take a look at the top of the page. To view the page souce, the easiest way is to right click on the page and select view source.
You will find the page title inside the <title?</title? tags usually within the first few lines of the HTML code. This is an instance of an HTML title tag : <title? This is my page title</title?.
Search engines take a lot of notice of the page title because it is like the title of a book, it tells you what the book is about. If the title is clear and succinct it tells search engines exactly what the page is about then you can rank high for some of your selected keywords.
The trick is not to dilute your page title with extra non-keywords. Do not add words like in and the, and other filler words. The closer you can get to the pure keywords the better.
For example, avoid doing this: <title?Earth Worms in the Middle East</title? when your keyword is earth worms. Instead simply use: <title?Earth Worms</title?.
If you have multiple keywords only use two or 3 uttermost or again the focus is diluted. If you are using multiple keywords then do it like this: <title?Earth worms | Middle East</title? – never use filler words like ‘in’ and ‘the’.

Rank No1 – Three Tips To Help You
Sometimes it is just the smallest of things that can make a Giant difference with SEO ranking results.
Here are three small things that will make a Bigger difference if you practice them all the time.
1. If you are going fishing make sure there are fish and not too many fishing people.
2. Title is everything.
3. Being bold makes you stand out.
If you are going fishing make sure there are fish and not too many fishing people.
When it comes to a more abstract world like SEO sometimes we forget common sense. So let’s remember!
In the SEO world making sure there are fish is making sure that there is traffic for a word we are choosing to rank for. Use tools like Google Traffic Estimator (just Google it) if you are short on funds, and if you have a little bit of money, go get yourself a WordTracker account (they also have a free tool as well which is good). These (and many other traffic tools) will tell you that there are ‘fish’ for the keywords that you want to rank for.
The next part of this BIG trick is not to fish were everyone else is fishing. So if you are smart if you are doing a blog for example, you will look for keywords that have good traffic but a LOW number of competing websites. WordTracker will help you with this.
Title is everything.
In the SEO world the page title is the ‘secret weapon’ of the master ranker! Here is 1 thing to remember, make sure that the page title is as close as possible to being 100% the keyword you want to rank for as possible. The page title is like the title of a book. If you wanted to learn about the sex life of a worm then a book title of ‘Sex life of a worm’ will grab your attention and you will know you have the book you want. On the other hand a title of ‘Worms and interesting facts’ will not grab you in the same way. Make your title tags (where ever you can) 100% the keyword/key phrase you want to rank for.
Being bold makes you stand out.
This is a very good onsite optimisation tip if you want to optimize a page/blog entry for a particular keyword, make sure you embolden the keyword in the text 2 or 3 times. Don’t over do it of course.

Improve Your SEO Ranking With WordPress
WordPress out of the box permits standard management of the main SEO meta information. To extend the functionality we add our own super-charged version of the All-In-One-SEO Pack. The SEO pack makes it easy to alter the page title and page meta description.
The All-In-One-SEO Pack is a great WordPress plugin that finishes off the SEO aspects for WordPress. For some reason WordPress still has not got the SEO fixed out of the box.
The All-In-One-SEO Pack allows you you to change the most significant page components – page title and page description. It also permits you to change the page keywords, but as we all know, search engines no longer take note of these because they have been spammed too much in the past. Google ended using the keywords for page ranking in the early 2000′s.
Page Title tags
This is the No1 SEO component to manipulate. Always make sure that you control the page title. The page title appears in the browser window at the very top of the screen. Search engines use this in the listings and show it in their search results.
) between the words.
The page title is the MOST powerful SEO page element because it is like the title of a book. And just like a book title, if it is good it will be more attractive to readers.
If your page needs to extend to cover two or three keywords we have learned that you can still get good rankings from adding multiple keywords to the title. However, always try to make the page title as close to the keyword you want to rank for. Adding extra non-beneficial words detracts from the results achieved.
Even though it is best to keep the page title just to the keywords you want to rank for, if you are a branded business you will also most likely want to add in your company name so that it is displayed on Google in your listing.
Page Descriptions
This element is NOT used by search engines for ranking purposes. Nevertheless, most search engines will utilize this in their search results so it is important. We have discovered that Google will use the description most of the time. We have not yet discovered how it makes up its mind if to use it or not. At other times Google will use the first piece of text that it can find on the page. On Flash pages this can be an issue considering there is no text content. This is one reason why you should always add at least one sentence of HTML text on a Flash based page so Google and other search engines have something meaningful to display in the search results.
By having a good description it will increase your click through rates because the text will be more appealing to people. Ensure that you use a maximum of 156 characters. If you use any more characters Google will truncate the rest. If you can keep your descriptions to 140 characters or less this is even better seeing Google sometimes adds a date to the beginning of the description which is part of the 156 characters it displays.

One Meta Tag You Should Use Carefully – Description Tag
There is only one meta tag that most search engines use – the description tag. It is not ordinarily used for SEO ranking purposes, but it is ordinarily used (including by Google) as the text on the search results listing.
The content of the description tag is used more often than not by Google when it displays the results pages for a keyword. It uses only the first 156 characters though so make sure if you are using it to check the length of the text. If you do not check the length your text will be truncated and it will look funny.
To check the length of a piece of text just paste it into a word document and then select the text and then double click the word count box at the bottom of the screen on the status bar.
The meta tags should appear in the head section of the page between the head tags.
Google is a little rogue when it comes to using or not using the meta description tag. When it does use it you can have full control of what is displayed to possible visitors but it will often vary what it uses at will with sometimes it just plucking a piece of text from your page.
To ensure you have more control over what Google chooses as the text in the search results as well as setting the description tag carefully also make sure that the first 156 characters of text on your page says what you would like to see in Google.
If you have a flash site or just use images with a little text, you have a problem! We have seen Google pick up the alt text from an image and display this when it didn’t choose to use our description tag. This will tell you to ALWAYS have some text on your page even if it is only 156 carefully chosen characters (including spaces).
